LESSON 20TH - To divide into syllables
Snow = NEVE = NE-VE
Hand = MANO = MA-NO
Pencil = MATITA = MA-TI -TA
Sometimes vowel at the beginning of a word stay alone ...
Goose = OCA = O-CA
Isle = ISOLA = I-SO-LA
But sometimes it is different, look at the example:
Tree = ALBERO = AL -BE- RO
Shadow = OMBRA = OM-BRA
Two attached consonants are usually separted:
Lamp = LAMPADA = LAM-PA-DA
Bomb = BOMBA = BOM-BA
Also double consonants are separated:
Mum = MAMMA = MAM-MA
Hut = CAPPELLO = CAP-PEL-LO
Carpet = TAPPETO = TAP-PE-TO
When "S" is followed by a consonant, it always follows that consonant:
Gym = PALESTRA = PA-LE-STRA
Window = FINESTRA = FI-NE-STRA
Fly = MOSCA = MO-SCA
With sounds like "GL", "SC", "GN", "FR", "PR" .. consonants are NEVER separated:
Spider = RAGNO = RA-GNO
Fish = PESCE = PE-SCE
Rabbit = CONIGLIO = CO-NI-GLIO
